While in Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta, we assist La Vina with the Vineyard Child Sponsorship Program (VCS). This program reaches the poorest and most vulnerable members of society. Many children live in dysfunctional families, single parent homes (or grandparents) or extreme poverty. The La Vina Church has 17 community centers of hope that provide a weekly bible lesson, sing worship songs, pray for one another and have a safe place to play. One church community center of hope is in the lower dump where families live in shacks and kids play in dirt roads surrounded by trash. They play very close to large dump trucks and speeding recycling trucks on their way to the city dump. The conditions are deplorable but the smiles on their faces when you see them play at the church is priceless. They have the joy and love of God in their hearts!
We are part of the technical team maintaining the website and online database. The church is very talented and use many volunteers and missionaries to feed over 2200 children weekly with not only food, but spiritual food – God’s Word!
In 2018, Michael and Shannan became the Vineyard Child Sponsorship Coordinators for Puerto Vallarta. We oversee how the VCS program is administered and coordinate with the pastors and leaders there. This area is led by Pastor Mario and Letty. Along with their son, Luis, and volunteers. They feed approximately 200 impoverished children and women. Woo Family Ministry works alongside the VCS program. We are excited to be a part of the team there.
We look forward in seeing the program grow in both Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta. If you are interested in sponsoring a child between the ages of 4 and 18, please visit www.vineyardmcm.org and click on the child sponsorship menu.
